When Daisho Meets Heisei

An elegant exterior of traditional Japanese architecture fused in the flow of time with a touch of modern interior art. Built in 1920, Nanni Saiin Machiya was previously owned by an folding fan artisan. It then refurbished in 2016 by Kyoto’s well known construction company, Hachise. Designer retained some of the old materials, such as the elm beams, sliding door, cabinet doors and windows then reused them as unique decorations of the Machiya.

Once you open and enter the door of Saiin Machiya, you’ll find a gravel floor along with a dormer on top of the high ceiling that brightens the entrance lobby.

living room 客廳

As you step up to the dark wooden floor, you’ll find a brass chandelier in the living room along with other antique furnitures, made with the hands of the finest artisans; creating illusions as if you’re traveling in time

脫了鞋，踏上深色原木地板，客廳垂掛著的黃銅吊燈，如同屋內其他工匠手工製作的古董燈飾、傢俱讓旅人瞬間錯覺自己遊走在時間軸上

first floor tatami room 土間 (一樓和式)

The 3 Tatami room next to the living room space with 2 French casement installed. Enjoy the warm bath of the sun

客廳左方三疊榻榻米空間翻新前原為町屋土間 雙面落地窗，任陽光盡情灑落

island kitchen 開放式廚房

On the right side of the living room is a multi purpose, fully equipped open kitchen. Occasionally we would offer cooking class to the neighborhoods when no guests accommodates at the machiya.

銜接在客廳右方的是多功能用途的開放式廚房。在沒有旅人的期間，町屋廚房偶爾舉行的料理教室，仍迴盪著學員們的笑聲

Once you opened the unique traditional sliding door, you’ll find a Japanese garden with Tsubaki as the main visual. Brew a cup of Sencha in the morning, enjoy the seasonal changes of Kyoto while sitting at this beautiful garden.

走過開放式廚房，拉開日式拉門，是以春樁為主視覺的日式庭院。晨間泡上一壺茶，坐在此，享受京都分明的四季變化

The century old elm wood that mounted between the reading space and the master bedroom cleverly combined the traces from the folding fan artisan with modern interior art

天花板鑲著製扇世家所留下的百年檜木圓柱，從閱讀空間貫穿至主寢間，傳承這歲月的痕跡正與時尚創意展開對話

tatami room 榻榻米房

Different from the elegant style of the master bedroom, the 2nd floor tatami bedroom presents the soft brightness from the spike rice of early Autumn.

有別於洋式寢間的雅趣時尚，位於閱讀空間右側的和式寢間，呈現的是初秋稻穗的柔和明亮
